- One hundred percent (100%) participation by all households and
commercial entities in Harrison County.
- The necessary and essential collection and/or proper solid waste
disposal at an approved waste disposal facilitie.
- Increase our public education and outreach program making citizens aware of the solid waste laws and the acute relationship of those laws to a clean and healthy environment.
- Continue to provide temporary assistance through agencies such as Criss Cross Inc., recognizing that many of our impoverished residents need assistance without judgement.
- Continue our successful Environmental Restoration project with the WV DEP eliminating illegal dumps and pro actively eliminate the illegal and unnecessary waste tire piles thru management and reuse programs.
- Expand our community clean up program to include assistance to private property owners for the cleanup of inactive illegal dumps.
- Increase residential, commercial and industrial recycling to meet the West Virginia Recycling Act goal of reducing the solid waste stream 50 percent (50%) by January 2010.
- Continue promoting curb side yard waste pickup, general composting and moving into food waste composting.
- Work with watershed groups to coordinate "Rails to Trails" and river walks using Community Service probationers and civic group volunteers to pick up litter and trash in our streams and on our stream banks in Harrison County. Adopted March 12,2003.
